So I've never really been much of a Rodgers and Hammerstein person (I know, I should be banned from musical theatre) but today I realized that I love Cinderella. When I was a kid I didn't have the disney version, we had the R&H movie. So that kind of represents my childhood.

0100100100100000011001100110010101100101011011000010000001101100011010010110101001100101001000000111011101110010011010010111010001101001011011100110011100100000011010010110111000100000011000100110100101101110011000010111001001111001

You can put that into a binary to ascii converter.
So I was thinking. And pretty much every favorite place of mine here in NYC is along broadway. It's totally true. I walk to work along broadway. Even once I'm in soho, I like to stay on it. I love union square and herald square and times square (minus tourists) and astor place and the UWS (the part of it that I see on the way to steps) and columbus circle and lincoln center. So I think that's pretty much my street. And I took one of those quizilla things about which subway line you are (a while ago) and I came out as the NQRW. Very appropriate that it's of course the line that runs up and down broadway (up to 42nd st, at which point the 1 takes over).

I would be insane without my job and all the friends I'm making there.

I bought a coat. and I found a pair of 7 jeans for $40. It was hard to get them in non-anorexic sizes, but after some searching, I was successful.

I did not know that rice needs to be cooked prior to me eating it. My family is laughing at me now.

So, the average person would not care that I can convert between ascii and binary. And I figured none of my apple colleagues would care because they'd already know how to do it. This is not the case. Apparently I'm the only person at my store who knows how to do that. And it's a common software development skill. Like out of 300 people, geniuses and all, no one else knows. And one guy didn't believe me, so I wrote his name and he put it into an online decoder and flipped out. So now word it getting around and people are starting to think I'm not such a computer retard. A manager asked me if I wanted to be a genius - seriously. And I said that I'm kind of a one trick pony in that regard and I can only do it so well because it's mathematically based and I'm good at base conversion (it's simple in theory). Anyway, all day I've been getting requests to write people's names in Binary, which is ok. Although I wasted a lot of business cards.

If you want your name converted to binary, let me know and I'll for it for you. Or you could just google it and look for an ascii to binary converter that will do it in 2 seconds. But this is so much cooler.

I saw Spring Awakening last night and it was really good. The songs make much more sense in context. I mean, some parts of it were a little pitchy, but it wasn't enough to detract from the awesomeness of the show. I mean, it got a standing ovation. And the cast had to come back out from the wings 3 times to bow.

Jesus Christ, I'm hungry and tired. I got up at 5am and didn't take a shower or anything. Just went to my 7am remedial music class, where the concepts of pitch and tempo were introduced. And the teacher literally asked me if I'd like to teach the class. Came back, took a nap, and I was just woken up. I'm still asleep. Ugh. I'm hungry too.

I said yesterday was the commute from hell. I thought that was the worst it could get. I was wrong, apparently. So today I got up so I'd end up in the city an hour early. I figured if there was traffic or a problem parking, whatever, I'd be fine and make it to class on time. My school has a ridiculously strict attendance policy.

There's one thing I failed to account for:

The possibility for the train to break down in the middle of New Jersey.

Yes, that happened. In the middle of nowhere in NJ, the train broke down. So the entire train had to get off and walk to the nearest station on a different track (because ours was stuck on the track and wouldn't move). And then I got on that train. But it was literally a giant group of hundreds of commuters walking along the train tracks in New Jersey. It sucked. And I almost didn't get to Penn Station on time. I actually did get there late. I got to class 7 minutes late. And I was all tired and couldn't sleep while we learned basic physics. And I'll bet my teacher thinks I don't car about being on time, even though this was clearly not the case.

I got a call in class saying that I'm to go to the apartment this afternoon, where I will find out if the lease was approved. So wish me luck. If not, I'm homeless again. If so, I have to pay $4,000. But at least I'll find out the status.

Oh and the apple store finally got back to me, so I have an interview at the SoHo apple store tomorrow at 3pm, so I no longer have to feel awkward using the computers (since I"m not bringing my laptop back and forth) and answering people's questions while not in uniform.

Ok, that's it for now. I've had nothing to eat, so that must be rectified.

Recap:
Monday night: I basically freaked out and decided I wasn't going to NY. luuvinglife then helped me to un-freak out, so I did feel a lot better. Then I got to the airport where the waterworks were abundant. Once I got on the plane, though, I was fine. Except there were 3 screaming babies in my vicinity. And of course, as soon as one stopped, another started. And the guy next to me kept farting.

Tuesday: Arrived in NY and although I was a little scared, I was happy as soon as I got into manhattan. There was much getting lost (I even got lost inside Duane Reade) and I visited the crazy-busy apple store several times. Then I went to steps on broadway because I thought I still had some semblance of a brain left. I was talking to Ray Hesselink about just flying in and everything and he asked why I wasn't sleeping. Anyway, I went into class and pretty much fucked everything up. Everything. first of all, I didn't bring my nice shoes because I was worried about things getting stolen. The thing is, the shoes I wore do not fit my feet. Where the tap should be, there is rubber. So grace taps didn't happen. Flaps were even a bit of a challenge. Combine that with the fact that my brain decided to take a rain check and you get a total disaster. When I get my shoes and my brain I'll go back and redeem myself. Because the class really wasn't that hard. I was just a retard. Then I went to the hotel and slept.

Wednesday: Woke up early and went to school. I spent 6 fucking hours there because my school is the definition of bureaucracy. As in, they don't have an AP policy and wanted me to take Arithmetic because they lost my UCLA transcripts. And since calc is a prerequisite for most of the classes, I had to go to each individual department head, wait in line, and explain my situation. Anyway, I then went to the Soho apple store and discovered that I love Soho. Then I went to go look at an apartment on the Lower East side, which I liked. I then discovered that I am completely in love with the East Village. I ate at the life cafe and talked to my parents. I explained to my mother the significance of the life cafe (since she's seen the movie Rent. And I told her about Jonathan Larson. Her response: "Oh, is he there now?" Despite the fact that I mentioned that he died opening night. Then I went home and I was off to bed. Oh, I forgot to mention, some dude tried to mug me underneath the brooklyn bridge. But it was ok. And I told my mom and she flipped out.

Thursday: Went to school again for 6 hours because I had only half-finished on wednesday. It's funny, because at the last step, you take your ID picture. And most of the people have been there for a couple long days. And through all the other steps, you are treated like shit and no one helps you. Then the woman who takes the picture is all bright and cheery. "One, two three, Smile!" and everyone gives the camera the look of death. Anyway, headed back to the village because I <3 it and I was really hungry, so I went to a restaurant called Hummus Place. It's on St. Marks between 1st Ave and Ave A. It was yummy. And cheap. For $7 I got a meal that I couldn't finish (keep in mind that I hadn't eaten in 9 hours and I'd been going all day). So I'm taking you there, Amanda. Then I went to check out an apartment, which was apparently in Chinatown. I got lost, and the sun was going down. My mom texted me to say hi and I sent her a message back saying "Lost in bad area, can't talk now." Then I found the subway, which had no reception and finally called her back like half an hour later. I had like 17 missed calls and when she picked up she was crying. Note to self: don't scare mom. Anyway, I hung out some more in Cooper Sqaure. The starbucks there is cool. Oh and the Barnes and Noble is so amazing it brings me to tears. Then I went back to the hotel.

Friday: Got up, ate lunch at TGIFriday's with a man named GO who lives in Queens. Apparently he's friends with my mother's friend. He paid for my lunch and offered his place until I find somewhere to stay. So that's always good. Took a train to Grandma's and free food galore. And now we're going to see a movie and get clothing and all those things. And I got to play with my cousins. And slept like 15,000 hours.
